RBI steps up rupee internationalisation push amid global headwinds

The central bank has announced measures to promote wider use of the rupee in cross-border transactions, including permitting rupee loans to Bhutan, Nepal and Sri Lanka, introducing reference rates for key trading partner currencies, and allowing Special Rupee Vostro Account balances to be invested in corporate bonds and commercial papers.
