Indian Institute of Accountancy? Early idea triggers debate on future of CA, CS, CMA education

The idea, first floated by a parliamentary panel, has gained fresh traction following media reports suggesting that the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) is considering a new body, tentatively called the Indian Institute of Accounting, which could oversee examinations and curriculum design for Chartered Accountants (CA), Company Secretaries (CS) and Cost Accountants (CMA). However, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has clarified that such reports are not backed by any official confirmation from the Ministry, underlining the uncertainty around the proposal.
