GST authorities have arrested a partner of an iron and steel trading business due to fraudulent claims of input tax credit, totaling more than Rs 15.78 crore. The investigation found that the firm submitted false invoices to unjustly acquire tax credits without the actual delivery of goods. The accused has now been remanded to judicial custody for a period of fourteen days.
