Uber loses UK Supreme Court appeal over tax on rival apps

Uber’s attempt to impose VAT on rival taxi operators failed. The Supreme Court dismissed Uber’s appeal. This decision means private hire operators outside London will not face a 20% VAT charge on profit margins. Delta Taxis hailed the ruling as averting a crisis. Bolt also welcomed the decision. However, Bolt continues to fight HMRC over its own VAT obligations.
