Telcos object to govt's D2M tests, say exercise lacks transparency

Telecom operators have voiced strong objections to the government’s recent direct-to-mobile (D2M) broadcasting technical tests, deeming them non-inclusive, incomplete, and lacking transparency. The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) stated the evaluation excluded key stakeholders like telcos and device makers, and failed to share terms of reference beforehand, raising concerns about spectrum, networks, and consumer safety.
