Supreme Court relief for IndiGo & SpiceJet: No retrospective IGST on reimported aircraft parts

The Supreme Court provided relief to InterGlobe Aviation and SpiceJet. It dismissed the customs department’s appeal. The appeal sought integrated goods and services tax retrospectively. This was for re-import of aircraft parts after foreign repairs. The court stated that a 2021 notification could not retroactively impose IGST. This overruled the department’s claim for taxes from 2017 to 2021.
