The central government successfully met its fiscal deficit target of 4.8% of GDP for 2024-25, as per provisional data. While the actual deficit slightly exceeded revised estimates at Rs 15.77 lakh crore, increased capital expenditure and savings in revenue expenditure contributed to achieving the goal. Nominal GDP growth also supports future deficit and debt targets.
