Banks' panel to soon take decision on merchant charges for UPI transactions above Rs 2,000

In the coming days, a committee will review UPI transaction charges for merchants exceeding the two thousand rupee mark. This review aims to balance self-sustainability with the goal of expanding the UPI market. Notably, transactions of two thousand rupees or less will continue to be fee-free for both person-to-merchant and person-to-person exchanges. Recent government provisions introduce guidelines for implementing merchant discount rates for selected UPI transactions above this specified threshold.
