Rupee slips to three-week low on oil strain, RBI steps in yet again to cap fall

The Indian rupee touched a three-week low on Tuesday as oil prices surpassed ninety dollars. Rising oil prices occurred after the United States and Iran ceasefire agreement lapsed. The Reserve Bank of India’s interventions largely contained further losses for the rupee. Asian currencies also experienced modest weakness while the dollar index moved higher. Analysts anticipate the rupee will remain stable before a gradual depreciation by September 2027.
