India’s current account deficit widened to USD 6.2 billion in June, a significant increase from last year. This widening was primarily caused by a larger merchandise trade deficit, which rose considerably. Services surplus saw an increase, and net transfers also grew during the same period. Capital account registered net inflows, a change from the previous year’s outflow.
