India’s statistics ministry launched a new monthly services production index. The first trial release showed broad expansion across key economic sectors. Fourteen of nineteen sub-sectors posted double-digit year-on-year growth in April. Accommodation and food services led expansion, while transport sectors declined. This index aims to provide a timely measure of formal services sector activity.
