PM internship scheme falters in pilot year as low uptake and high attrition expose gaps

India’s Prime Minister Internship Scheme is faltering in its pilot year, with only 16,060 joiners out of 1.65 lakh offers and 6,618 dropouts. The data raises questions on low acceptance, weak retention and thin hiring. Minister of Corporate Affairs Harsh Malhotra detailed these gaps in the Lok Sabha.
